The London Design Festival, celebrating its 22nd edition from 14 to 22 September 2024, returns to showcase the city as a global design capital with a diverse program of exhibitions, talks, installations, and workshops across 11 participating districts.
Exploring Design Districts
The London Design Festival 2024 will feature 11 Design Districts, each with its own unique character reflecting the local community. These districts include Bankside, Battersea, Brompton, Chelsea, Dalston to Stokey, Fitzrovia, Greenwich Peninsula, Mayfair, Park Royal, Shoreditch Design Triangle, and William Morris Design Line. Visitors can explore events within walking distance of each other, showcasing the city's diverse creative clusters. The Design Districts serve as a key component of the festival, allowing attendees to discover innovative designs, attend workshops, and engage with local creative communities across London.
Innovative Furniture Collections
The London Design Festival 2024 will showcase several innovative furniture collections, highlighting the city's role as a hub for cutting-edge design. Tom Dixon, the renowned British design brand, will unveil its latest furniture collection at its refreshed flagship store in Kings Cross. The festival will also feature the work of emerging designers, such as Alexander Kneller, who will present four versions of his Lamina wooden chair and a small table. Additionally, French interiors studio Liaigre will partner with hotelier Jean-Louis Costes to launch a new furniture collection during the event. These presentations, along with others, will offer visitors a glimpse into the future of furniture design, showcasing both established and up-and-coming talent in the industry.
Workshops and Interactive Installations
The London Design Festival 2024 will feature a range of interactive workshops and installations, offering visitors hands-on experiences and immersive encounters with design. UK-based factory Bloqs and Opendesk designer Joni Steiner will host a stool-making workshop, providing participants with practical insights into furniture crafting. At the Royal Naval College's Painted Hall, Turkish designer Melek Zeynep Bulut will present "Duo," an innovative suspended installation exploring duality and dialogue through a series of prisms. Additionally, the festival will showcase "Digital Interactive Creations," a virtual exhibition featuring real-time interactive digital art created with machine learning and AI, game designs, and dynamic installation pieces. These engaging activities aim to foster creativity, encourage public participation, and highlight the intersection of technology and art in contemporary design.
